Proposed Reclassification of Corban Green in respect
of the McLaren Park Henderson South Community Initiative
Notice is given of Council’s intention to reclassify Corban
Green to enable a community facility to be built on the
reserve.
Council has been approached by McLaren Park Henderson South
Community Initiative to approve the granting of a lease in
respect of a community facility, subject to the organisation
obtaining the necessary, funding and consents.
However, Corban Green is currently classified as “recreation
reserve” pursuant to the Reserves Act 1977.
Under the Reserves Act 1977 it is not permitted to build
community facilities on a “recreation reserve” – but they
may be built on a local purpose (community buildings)
reserve.
In order to permit the community facility to be built it is
therefore necessary to reclassify Corban Green to “local
purpose (community buildings) reserve” in accordance with
the Reserves Act 1977.
A diagram showing Corban Green is available for public
inspection during ordinary office hours at the Waitakere
City Council at 6 Henderson Valley Road, Henderson or by
phoning the Senior Community Liaison Officer or Parks
Consents Planner Waitakere City Council on 839 0400.
Any person or organisation wishing to make objections with
respect to the proposed reclassification must do so in
writing (and indicate if you wish to be heard) and must send
the objections no later than 5pm on 17 December
2009.
