Introduction
Every three years the Council must produce a Long Term Council Community Plan,
which sets out priorities for the decade ahead to deliver on clear goals that
have been agreed between the Council and the community.
The Local Government Act provides a legal framework for the production and
communication of council plans.
The purpose of the long term plan is to:
- describe the activities of the Council
- describe the community outcomes desired for the city
- provide integrated decision making (between the Council and the community) and co-ordination of
resources
- provide a long term focus for the Council's decision and activities
- provide a basis for accountability to the Waitakere City community
- provide an opportunity for community participation in planning for the
future

Your requests for service
There are many instances when making a submission to a ten-year or annual
plan is not appropriate. For instance if you want to report an urgent council
matter please phone the council's
24 hr call centre, likewise for a non-urgent matter or request for service
(e.g. an animal welfare issue or broken footpath).
Non-urgent requests for
service can also be faxed or
emailed to the council using the contact details listed on our
website.
