A Slow Street is one where signs and physical barriers like
traffic islands, humps, or plantings, have been installed to
slow traffic speeds. Slow Streets are designed to reduce
traffic speeds and accidents.
Residents who are concerned about the speed or volume of
traffic in their area can apply for the installation of Slow
Street devices using the application form below. The
applicant needs to get the majority of residents in the
street to sign a petition. If more signatures are obtained
than there is room on the form, please attach another sheet
of paper.

Tips.
The petition should then be sent to Council for
investigation.
Numerous applications are received each year for Slow Street
calming measures. Council will investigate and prioritise
each application based on factors such as safety history and
measured vehicle speeds.
Once a street has been prioritised by the Council, it will
be added to the Slow Street and Traffic Calming Priority
List. When funding is available, a suitable traffic calming
scheme is consulted with the street residents. If public
feedback is positive, the work may then proceed to
implementation.
